Spark Access: The Spark

August 15, 2023

Spark Access was created with a simple thought. What can we do to make the world a more accessible place for people with disabilities, and ignite a change in how people view disability, approach accessibility, and do it with dignity and respect with the disability community at every step of the journey? To do this, everyone needs that first spark that leaves you with a lifetime of skills and knowledge to build a more inclusive future and think of how their work can make a difference for others.

If you’ve stumbled on this blog, you’ve hopefully landed in the right spot as we live the Spark Access mission to be a catalyst for accessibility and disability inclusion in the mobility industry to build a more inclusive future and sense of belonging

From learning how to seamlessly build accommodations into a market research process so no Deaf participant will be left wondering if proper ASL service will be provided to ensure effective communication can go both ways;

to wondering how an EV Charger deployment can be made to fit the standards of the US Access Board that can not only be done in a cost effective manner, but in ways that can surprise and delight future customers with disabilities;

and to look at ways for including disability employment strategies within a growing mobility industry, so that we can build it with a component of disability inclusion from the start and increase revenue, innovation, and employee retention through the power of disabled talent.

We strive to build that together with you through our key pillars:

  • Community

  • Engage with the community, and the intersection of public & private partnerships.
  • Inclusion
  • Teach inclusive design practices as a process of iteration and learning.
  • Excellence
  • Lead education on culture and standards to build a wide and lasting foundation.
  • “Nothing About Us, Without Us”,
  • Reinforcing employment and retention of disabled talent in the workforce to succeed in your strategy.

As we begin our journey in bringing Spark Access to life, we look forward to sharing knowledge and wisdom for building your strategy for disability inclusion and accessibility and creating the spark for you to fulfill your goals.
